ARIZONA: Company choreographers are invited to apply for the Wickenburg Residency with the opportunity to pursue new projects, mount work, or collaborate with other artists, free from everyday pressures. NEW YORK: Triskelion Arts, lovingly referred to as Trisk, is an artist-run nonprofit organization. CANADA: Dance Collection Danse (DCD) is pleased to offer a pilot project for an Artist Researcher-in-Residence. NEW YORK: Choreographer Pam Tanowitz creates a sublime and thrilling performance from T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets. These haunting and evocative poems emerged in 1943 from the chaos of World War II as hopeful testaments to the redemptive power of spirituality, art, and human goodness in the darkest of times. Tony Award-nominated Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit) performs Eliot’s text live in this much-lauded collaboration, the first authorized performance based on Four Quartets. NEW YORK: Set to the music of the neo-soul, Grammy Award-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, An Untitled Love serves as Kyle Abraham’s creative exaltation of Black love and unity. Abraham dedicates this feel-good work—its visceral hope, solace, and joy—to family, culture, and community strengthened over generations and lifetimes. Nearly three decades after first befriending Brown Sugar, D’Angelo’s debut album, Abraham choreographs to the music of a singular artist for the first time in a work of this scale. NEW YORK: A world premiere from Jamar Roberts opens New York City Ballet’s triple bill program. As resident choreographer at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Roberts returns to NYCB for his first main stage work following the fall 2020 dance-on-film premiere of Water Rite. It is joined by Pam Tanowitz’s first dance for the company, Bartók Ballet, an ensemble piece fusing neoclassical choreography with modern and folk steps. AUSTRIA: Gloria is a choreographer, witch, fairy, and artist, who is as baroque as she is whimsical, and she can’t live without dance. FINLAND: Katrín Gunnarsdóttir is a choreographer and dancer from Reykjavík, Iceland. In her work, she is interested in soft encounters, quietness and resonance, relentless ever-changing flow, the labor of the dancer, and the body as an archive. The new work ALDA is a dance performance installation that draws upon the history of women’s collective physical labor and, in particular, its relation to repetitive motions and song, to generate a situation of intimate female assembly, convergence, and coalescence. GERMANY: The spectacular stage program for the COLOURS festival center Theaterhaus Stuttgart is almost complete. Five German premieres and one world premiere, three of them in co-production with COLOURS, will create plenty of festival buzz. GERMANY: The Stuttgart Ballet’s new triple bill PURE BLISS opens with a revival of choreographer Johan Inger’s Out of Breath, a stirring piece that explores the fine line between life and death. The evening concludes with a world premiere by Inger: for his first work for the Stuttgart Ballet, Inger plans a one-act comedy based on the famous classical ballet The Sleeping Beauty. This collaboration between Inger - whose roots lie in classical ballet as well as contemporary dance - and the dancers of the Stuttgart Ballet - who are known for their openness, versatility, and passionate commitment to choreographers - is sure to be a fruitful one. HONG KONG: CCDC presents Pa | Ethos. The name originates from the words, ‘Pathos’ and ‘Ethos’ from Aristotle’s Rhetoric. ‘Ethos’ emphasizes precision, while ‘Pathos’ evokes passion and feelings. INDIA: Attakkalari Center for Movement Arts in Bangalore announces the 10th edition of the Attakkalari India Biennial (AIB), one of  South Asia’s largest and preeminent movement and digital arts festivals. NETHERLANDS: For the first time in the Netherlands, Dutch National Ballet presents its own production of Marius Petipa’s legendary ballet Raymonda. Associate Artistic Director Rachel Beaujean is creating a completely new version of this masterpiece of the Russian ballet. SWEDEN: Scenkonst Sörmland and Giron Sámi Teáhter collaborate on the new production Vindvaka with Virpi Pahkinen Dance Company as a partner. Four dancers travel through the hydrosphere, exploring how water transforms from a liquid and flowing state to bellowing and gushing to finally form itself into the secretly organized pattern of a snow crystal. UK: Set to the music of the neo-soul, Grammy Award-winning R&B artist D’Angelo, An Untitled Love serves as Kyle Abraham’s creative exaltation of Black love and unity. Abraham dedicates this feel-good work—its visceral hope, solace, and joy—to family, culture, and community strengthened over generations and lifetimes. Nearly three decades after first befriending Brown Sugar, D’Angelo’s debut album, Abraham choreographs to the music of a singular artist for the first time in a work of this scale. CINEMA ON CHOREOGRAPHY & CHOREOGRAPHERS:

Into the Beat, directed by Stefan Westerwelle, choreography by Pepita Bauhardt, Teen, Dance, Romance Movie © 2021 – Netflix. Into the Beat is an inspiring coming-of-age story of a dancer finding her own style. The film is based on an original screenplay penned by German film director Stefan Westerwelle, also the director of the film, and Hannah Schweier. Choreographer Pepita Bauhardt ideated the standalone dance segments, while Jeff Jimenez took the responsibility of choreographing group-led dance performances, like the one that introduces viewers to the Battle-Land.

Partly teenage romance and partly dance drama, the film revolves around teenager Katya, who overcomes all odds to reinstate her talent as a dancer. Dancing comes naturally to Katya as she belongs to a family of acclaimed dancers. But will she choose the traditional ballet dance that she has trained in from early childhood or the freestyle hip-hop that she has recently stumbled upon and has gained considerable mastery over in a short span of time? Salt & Sugar, commissioned by Fuel and directed by filmmaker JJ Abrahams for Dance International Glasgow, is a beautiful, intensely personal film, but bracingly unsentimental. At age forty, critically acclaimed choreographer and dancer Hemabharathy Palani is looking back and taking stock of her life thus far. This film isn’t a linear, autobiographical piece though—it is lyrical and dense, showing Palani dancing, teaching, and exercising in a variety of locations, such as forests, shimmering grassy fields, and indoors in practice studios.
