UK: Royal Ballet’s Festival of New Choreography is a series of performances, events, and activities taking place across the House that embrace and champion new, diverse voices in choreography. The festival, which will take place on the Main Stage, in the Linbury Theatre, Paul Hamlyn Hall and Clore Studio, is part of The Royal Ballet’s commitment to choreographic innovation and nurturing the future of the art form.
Five new works have been commissioned by The Royal Ballet for the Main Stage. Joseph Toonga (The Royal Ballet Choreographic Residency for the 2023-24 Season) creates his second work for the Main Stage. Making their choreographic debuts in the space are Gemma Bond, Jessica Lang, Mthuthuzeli November and Royal Ballet First Artist Joshua Junker. In the Linbury Theatre, The Royal Ballet premieres an immersive work by Robert Binet that imagines the invisible forces of our universe in human form. This new work will be performed by dancers of The Royal Ballet.

CHIROPTERA for/in the scuffle of Paris Opera: "Chiroptera" is a project by JR, Damien Jalet, and Thomas Bangalter, presented as part of Act II of “Retour à la Caverne” in the collaboration between the Paris Opera, JR, and 𝘭𝘦19M, the Parisian building dedicated to the savoir-faire of the Fashion and Interior Design Métiers d'art.
As part of the restoration works at the Palais Garnier, the Paris Opera invited JR to offer a visual metamorphosis of the institution’s monumental façade. On the occasion of an unprecedented show choreographed by Damien Jalet on a music by Thomas Bangalter, the curtain rose to reveal a performance with 154 dancers. Reminding the Paris Opera's enduring commitment to creation and dance, the costume worn by Étoile dancer Amandine Albisson performing in the show was designed and made by CHANEL. The Paris Opera also supported the design and fabrication of costumes for the 153 dancers.

BOOKS ON CHOREOGRAPHY & CHOREOGRAPHERS:
Ballet Confidential by David McAllister, publisher Thames & Hudson Australia (2023).
Ballet Confidential is billed as "everything you wanted to know about ballet but were too afraid to ask." " The book is a very entertaining, frank, and often humorous compendium of topics, a bit like a "ballet for beginners" book but aimed at an interested adult audience rather than the insider or young ballet student. Written in McAllister's conversational tone, the chapters range from topics as basic as what to wear to the theater to costume design, pointe shoe design, ballet history, and ballet mime .
CINEMA WITH CHOREOGRAPHY & CHOREOGRAPHERS:
The Color Purple (2023 film), directed by Blitz Bazawule, produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Quincy Jones, choreography by Fatima Robinson. "The Color Purple" follows an African-American teenager named Celie being raised in rural Georgia in the early 1900s -- a decades-spanning tale of love and resilience and her journey to independence. Celie faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPwzBUui1GA
